What is Speech/Language Therapy?

Effective communication is a highly valued talent that, until someone suffers with it, is sometimes taken for granted in our society. An entire family unit can be altered when children do not develop adequate communication skills as they should or when those skills are affected by illness or stress. Because communication requires more than one person, its breakdown has an influence on every relationship in the child's life, including those with peers and adults. The specialist who identifies and treats a variety of communicative issues is a speech-language pathologist. Our speech/language therapy programs at Centra Pediatric Therapy are specially designed to fit the needs of each unique child.
